Call for Volunteers: "Watch This Space" Community Event

Join Watch this Space to assist with the installation, staffing and presentation of their street wide photo exhibition and weekend community event (October 18 – 19).

Watch this Space is a free public event and exhibition that explores design as a tool for capacity-building within communities and fostering resilience in the face of contemporary challenges. There are accessible and meaningful entry points for people of all ages and interests. WTS is also an iterative project that will continue to occur in a variety of formats and locations over time. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks associated with executing a design related event.

About Watch This Space 2025

This August, Watch This Space will transform Dundas Street West into a vibrant site of community connection and creative exploration. Over two days, visitors are invited to experience a series of free curated events, a street wide photo exhibition and public installations, and participatory workshops
(mending and making, children’s activities, a community resource library and guided walking tours focused on urban accessibility) that explore placemaking, local storytelling, and how we become more resilient – together.

Led by curators Julie Nicholson and Andrea Lacalamita, with a history of city-building and public programming (Do Design, In-Context), Watch This Space builds on themes of equity, belonging, and sustainable design. It invites us to imagine how shared spaces can support more inclusive futures — through creativity, care, and collaboration.
